Connection issues SMTP, POP3, IMAP

Please use an email client that supports TLS/SSL v1.2 or later e.g. Outlook 2016, MacMail on MacOS 10.11, Windows 10 mail, Android 5, iOS 9 or newer. Before setting up an email client (Outlook, Thunderbird etc), please check your login name and password for your respective email account via webmail. Email clients which log in permanently with incorrect login details are blocked by a firewall for approximately 30 minutes to avoid password hacking. If you have ensured that your login details are correct, you can set up your e-mail client.

Please check which encryption protocol is required for your email client and set SSL/TLS or STARTTLS accordingly!
You can find the correct mail server details in your ControlPanel (not ClientArea) or see your ControlPanel login details which we have already sent.
If your email client doesn’t support automatic configuration, we strongly recommend that you manually configure your email client settings and disable automatic configuration.

For example only if the ControlPanel URL of your domain is Host3:
https://admin.host3.globe.lu

SSL/TLS email clients (e.g. Outlook)
POP3 Server name: host3.globe.lu | Port: 995 | Protocol: SSL/TLS
IMAP Server name: host3.globe.lu | Port: 993 | Protocol: SSL/TLS
SMTP Server name: host3.globe.lu | Port: 465 | Protocol: SSL/TLS
Important!
SMTP server needs authentification – Please tick advanced.
Authentication mechanisms = plaintext (PLAIN, Password)
please restart your email client afterwards

Default STARTTLS email clients (e.g. Thunderbird, some Smartphones …)
POP3 Server name: host3.globe.lu | Port: 110 | Protocol: STARTTLS
IMAP Server name: host3.globe.lu | Port: 143 | Protocol: STARTTLS
SMTP Server name: host3.globe.lu | Port: 587 | Protocol: STARTTLS
Important!
SMTP server needs authentification – Please tick advanced.
Authentication mechanisms = plaintext (PLAIN, Password)
please restart your email client afterwards

You can white or blacklist domains and email addresses in your webmail.

We recommend using Thunderbird, free download here:
https://www.thunderbird.net/

SMTP connection error – can’t send emails
Please empty your local outbox (outgoing folder) first!
Check your SMTP advanced settings -> Authentication mechanisms = plaintext (PLAIN, NORMAL)
Test whether your password is correct, log in Webmail with all of your email accounts that are in use.
Do not copy passwords from Office applications (word docs etc.) copy & paste ONLY from a plain text editor (notepad, kate etc.)
Please make sure the OS and email client software are up2date.
Restart your computer and devices afterwards.
